Given you're not using heavy weights, you could just have used the rack alternating sets... And since you're going to 4 reps, I guess you're taking enough time between sets to take off the plates so she can squat. Moreover, you could have fixed her form if necessary. I never understood why people try to demoralize and cause problems instead of helping others.
