You can speak for yourself, but you can't speak for everyone...  :P

Maybe I just grew up somehere different...  My teachers never told us we sucked...  People don't tell me I can't run a 5k...  I think some people, and I'm not even saying you're one of them, talk themselves into people doubting them when those people really don't care...  but if it motivates a person to achieve great things then so be it, I just think it seems manufactured to me...  Either that or there are a lot more people who hate guys at the gym than I realize...
I'm willing to say everyone who has seriously competed in competitions and are putting it all on the line, have had a rival in their head while training; you see that person doing what you're doing in training, but better, so you have to do better. :)

Doesn't have to be a teacher or a 5k, those were just examples.
Surely, someone has told you that you're unable to do something, and it's made you want to go do it. Could be something as silly as ride a unicycle.

I don't see how someone can have 'manufactured' motivation.
Either you're legitimately motivated or your not.

Shut the fuck up, you're annoying. Whether it seems "manufactured" to you or not, people find different things motivating.

I mean the reasoning behind the motivation is manufactured... The motivation, if its working, is clearly real...

'Manufactured' motivation isn't something that works.
If you're faking/pretending to be motivated, that 'motivation' isn't going to carry over into doing.

I don't mean they're faking or pretending to be motivated... I mean like they've convinced themselves of something that isn't even true, and that something is their motivation... So the reasoning is manufactured, but the resulting motivation works for them...

There are no words, pictures, or videos that motivate me. Fight club is my reason for going to the gym.

manufactured motivation is self motivation derived from the things the mind exaggerates

you can definitely manufacture motivation, along with many other emotions. many of us do this without ever noticing it.

I'm guessing he means the organization.

Which isn't a video, word, or photo technically.

But it wasn't really funny so it doesn't really matter lol.

Lol, not delusional... Just that they've manufactured the reasoning for their motivation... I don't think they're crazy people...
