Broseph, I think you're missing the point of what I said. I meant safety bars make it so you can go as heavy, and as hard as you want ( aka 'till failure if you want) and not worry about being stuck.

Well, I set the safety bars at 2nd lowest, at the bottom of my squat, the bar's ~2" above it, I've had to drop the weight a few times, once in a completely dead silent gym with 20 old gramma's and gramps. When you got the weight on your back, and you're stuck, your priorities change ^_^. That said, yeah, you kinda do look like a goofus when you clank it.
