upper, lower, middle.

Take your pick. I've seen all 3

:)

I'm yet to do it but I've been tempted to say something about snap city to the people I see in the gym who do it.

perhaps invest in CoC grippers
I bought the 1, 1.5 and 2 for $90 with shipping I believe, my grip got much stronger pretty quick, from being able to hold 295x5 on the deadlift to 335x5 double overahand with chalk

Okay you are calling stuff pussy shit , but to be fair you are only dead lifting 315 for 1 after a whole fucking year...

I assuming most of your lifts are pretty weak if you are struggling to hold 225... You could always go the over under and use chalk.

Or perhaps you are using one o those fat bars (dont know the name), I personally hate them, but still grip should not be giving out like that at 225..

Edit : As far as your question go, iv been working out now for one year (my anniversary was the other day!) and im working well into my 400s and use no straps , no belt, i use chalk because it just feels nice (more of a placebo thing I think).

I had a lower bank injury that meant I couldn't lift more than bodyweight for squats/deadlifts for about 4-5 months. and I just tried sumo for the first time in ever, before that I never had the proper form to be able to lift heavy, pretty unfair assumptions.

e/ I also started out looking like a twig, I had no muscles on me and could barely deadlift 95lbs for reps...

I use wrist straps on all heavy pulls. I know I can pull the weight, but don't like not being able to cause my hands slip.

I guess the upper could cause the lower, but yeah, either way back rounding is a good way to up the weight for sure, you just might end up in a wheel chair (I've been there, it isn't fun - thankfully not from snap city deadlifts). But yeah, breaking form and not caring about back rounding is a sure fire way to up the weight haha, it's just not worth the risk.

You tall? I broke my back when I was younger, so I've had back issues going on 13 years now. I'm tall, so I found I was able to keep a straight back much easier with sumo, but I personally find it more difficult.

So, I said I would check my one year deadlift pr last week, I didn't feel like it. So I did it today. I hit 455 with good form in my opinion. I did have someone stand behind me to make sure my lockout was good and in case I passed out. Id say I would have had 10 more pounds in the tank but I don't use a belt or straps or anything so I will leave it for another time.

So for those out there its more than possible to get up in the decent 400s in one year. Just work hard and recover. I started deadlifting about 6 months ish in and just like everyone else I started at 135 with the most awkward form ever.

Next PR will probably be 6 weeks out maybe, I did order an Inzer belt so I am excited for that. Went with the prongs over the leaver only because my weight fluctuates so much and sometimes i like to wear a sweater so I don't feel like moving that leaver around all the time.

Next goal = 495 but realistic probably will be 475

Ill get a video of the next one if I can.

Oh and the calculator said my max would be 456 as my biggest set iv done is 405 x5 , so I am pretty fucking surprised it was that accurate...

yeah, 6'1"

and sumo feels amazing much easier to pull, everything feels way more natural too, my groin gets pretty fucking sore the next few days though, stops me from squatting sometimes.
