Quote (Urbain @ Jan 17 2015 12:38am)
He was implying corticosteroids worsen the global prognosis of a person. (even went as far as to say " I would opt for other treatments, marijuana for one" (no serious/well done study backs any of that))
Corticosteroids are not perfect but they have IMMENSELY reduced the mortality and morbidity of people living with UC / Crohn's.

I'm not 100% sure I get where you stand; do you disagree with anything said in those 2 lines above?

No I don't
but I don't disagree with anything he said either, why can't you see they can be congruent?

It's a nebulous area if anything. What is spoken about the influence of the corticosteroids is true, I'm sure you wouldn't disagree. That would, by necessity make the Crohn's disease worse. By worse it's not meant the actual symptoms at the time, that'd be asinine simply due to such a robust immunosuppression. That's clear. However, what he's saying and I don't think you're fully coming to terms with is that, notwithstanding the normal deleterious aspect of using corticosteroids as treatment, they're significantly worse for this disease that's predicated on the pathophysiology.

As for the subject of marijuana, I do agree that more studies need to be done, by far without a doubt. Conversely, the studies and numerous anecdotes all suggest quite a notable efficacy, and that is backed up on a purely cellular basis.
