Everybody else in this thread is fucked for thinking anybody has a right to ultimately influence the choices of another person, even as a significant other. You can choose whether or not you want to maintain your relationship but if your girlfriend or wife wants to give some deserving couple the beautiful gift of a child why can't you see that as a positive thing? You act as if some part of your partner is being ripped away that she wouldn't lose already, if that egg weren't fertilized it would be down the drain regardless.
If you really have a problem with her doing it, express that to her and compromise or part ways.
