haha i never really thought about this..but how much better would you do if you were in cardio shape?

A lot.
I didnt do cardio for about a year while lifting weights, now I do it and I notice a huge difference in my sex life, recovery between sets, and after work out.

high calories = muscle and fat gains
moderate calories + cardio + 1g protein/lb of body weight = slower muscle gains but also a loss in bf.

i've been under the impression that doing a bit of cardio 3-4x times a week actually helps when putting on dat dere muscle.

I wouldn't say it helps put the muscle on, but it does help with recovery, fat loss, and all around health in my opinion.
