To put that in perspective, 5x5 has you choose a weight where you don't even hit your plugged in 5RM (which is ~5% less than your real 5RM) until week 4.

So yeah, started too high.

This. I've started my current powerlifting prep using 425 as max and every reps have been easy for the first few weeks. Now making mad progress.

you should have at least a few weeks of easy lifting imo.

what have you been hitting lately and what is your max?

I hit 255 for 3 sets of 6 last week , and 255 for 3 sets of 5 the week before ... These were pretty damn hard though I must admit , but I managed to get all reps

I think so

It's basically this

Week 1 weight 3x5
Week 2 same weight 3x6
3rd week increase weight by 10 lbs back to 5 repeats
And just repeat this.

Program I'm running is fierce 5 upper/lower and you can see it in my user blog

Man to run something like this successfuly you'd have to start really light like

3x5x215
3x6x215

3x5x225
3x6x225

3x5x235
3x6x235

3x5x245
3x6x245
...

Even then I looks like a waste of time to me. I wouldn't enjoy doing the same thing over and over.

Dang that is really light... I mean what else do you suggest..? I want to stick with a program for at least 6 months , not changing all the time =/ but my squat has been quite stagnant on it.

Do a amrap on the last set. This way you'd get the benefit of going near failure while lifting lighter. You'd be able to gauge your progress this way.

Amrap = as many reps as possible?

So next week I'll start at like 215 and do amrap on the last set then?
