I'd wear a tux to my wedding.

Ivory shirt and white tie of course

Or the 2nd color of her dress (if there is one)

Oxfords are my personal fave, slipons are eech

It's a really non traditional wedding though which is another reason for no tux. We aren't doing a wedding party and it's a short ~20 min ceremony which includes all the readings/sand ceremony. Completely secular with no mention of god either lol. 5 hour reception though since it'll be a big party. I'll try out a white tie with ivory shirt, didnt think of that combo. Her dress is 100% ivory and she's wearing all silver and diamond jewelry.

I am forgoing the tux as well. My suggestions to you are these:
Color of the tie is up to you, but a white tie will almost always look tacky. I would stick to a crisp, clean white shirt and a solid tie. Let her decide the color, since she'll probably be the only one who cares about the pictures 10-15 years from now (what color is the suit?)
As for the thickness of the tie, just keep the widest part of the tie around the same width as the widest part of the lapel. I prefer a skinnier tie (like you said) but if you got more of a Power Suit with a traditional cut, the tie will look really silly with a thicker lapel

Best of luck m9. It's a very exciting time. Don't forget to hit your bi's super hard leading up to the ceremony

Got everything today so forgive the tags and ruffled shirt. I don't know how to tie a tie yet so the tie is just kinda thrown in there haha. How's it look?

Looks really good man. I'm assuming you've already had it tailored because it fits very well?
Agree that the shirt sleeve could show a bit. Also the chest doesn't look quite right, may be a bit tight or loose, not sure.

Thanks! Yeah I had it tailored, but decided to also add a vest afterwards which could be the reason it might not look right? Not sure, but it fits well and is comfortable. Added the vest to make it a bit more formal for the event. I also figured the coat will be off most of the night so a vest seemed appropriate. The tailor said I had a big chest while he was doing the alterations too lol.

Aha, yes, it's tight then. Not a big deal :) Good choice with the vest.

I have a black and charcoal colored suit, both 2 piece.

Looking to get a 3rd. (mostly used for law school/court room activities, but also weddings and other more casual stuff)

Idk how i feel about a blue/navy suit. Was thinking about getting this dope looking tan 3 piece suit.

any ideas on color/pattern?
