Disagree. Lifted the hardest I ever did with a "broken heart". Nothing more motivating than feeling like your world is crumbling down and you are lifting your feels off your back with each rep.

naw i don't agree with this either.
but again im a lot older than you.

if i broke up with my old lady i would LIVE in the gym
lmao

Anger/grief is one hell of a motivator but physical exhaustion is a shit way to cope with stressors and will most likely result in anxiety/depression/some sort of mental breakdown.
Life events (especially negative ones) is like the nr.1 cause for injury aswell.

But I do agree, the gym is a great way to distract yourself even if it might not be the best way.

Pretty interested in how you cope with having such a bad bench press? Do you bench press more or is that a vicious cycle?

Yeh I've had plenty disagree on this one before. For me if I'm stressed out to a certain point, it's hard to go to the gym and be focused much at all

I've tried the lifting on a heartbreak thing. Doesn't really work until after some recovery time (three to four weeks ish) lol

Guess it's different for everyone. The gym has always been my #1 stress reliever. Got me through some tough times.

depends on the break up. After 3 years and being cheated on, that shit sucked and the only way to cope for me (I was younger and didn't lift regularly at the time) was alcohol, weed, parties, any type of distraction and other people around me constantly

Hindsight, I was eating like shit and lost a lot of weight, I'd have lifted like shit and recovered even worse if I was working out.

IMO now whenever I'm in a relationship, I love going to the gym even more just so I can bring my best self to my partner AND it's a great way to get the fuck away from them for hours at a time ;)
