And then there's the whole social aspect of going to the gym. Seriously, I'll never understand people with home gyms. Sure I'd love to have one if I were a billionaire (an entire full sized luxury gym with all spa facilities in one of your many floors of your mansion) but for an average (or even below/just above average income) much better off paying for gyms.
Gym membership would be $50/month.
I paid $1100 for my squat rack + high/low pulley. Came with dip bar attachment and pullup bar. So I can do tricep pushdowns, lat pulldowns, cable rows, cable curls, etc... you name it.
I paid $500 for my adjustable bench that came with a leg extension/curl attachment.
$700 for adjustable dumbbells that switch instantly (Powerblocks), 2.5 - 90lb adjustables.
$300 for a good barbell, $1 per pound for plates. $100 for a preacher curl device that works just like a machine but takes plates instead.
I have never had a gym buddy that has been anything but distracting.
