I pulled 360 easily my first time deadlifting @ 16 or 17 years old so his claims of 400+ after a year arent unrealistic to me

I bet you had shit form, I was able to pull 4 plate within a few months of lifting back in college - needless to say I'm lucky I didn't snap my back, because although you might be able to "pull" that weight, it doesn't mean you are doing it right.

I'm considering adding seated dumbell press , maybe my left side wouldnt get burned out so much this way. I just really want to hit a 135 OHP for reps. I've only seen like one person ever OHP a plate at the gym lol.

I started only doing seated DB press up to 55's, switched to OHP and worked up to 165x3. I can only do work sets of 5 reps for multiple sets with 135 though. I can handle 75 dbs on seated OHP, but I feel the standing BB OHP is more challenging. I would honestly just incorporate both, and just alternate which you do first.

100% agree that standing ohp is harder. I think its a form thing though. Sitting I dont use as full of a range of motion as I do when standing. When standing i bring that all the way to my chest.

Also when I sit, I flare my elbows our further than I do when standing. When standing I keep them tight and in.

Sitting DB that is. I don't do sitting BB because our rack sucks and to unrack the BB you have to push your shoulders so far back that to unrack any heavy weight with no spotter will ruin your shoulder joints.

For me I find my lower back to be the issue as a heavier weight, I just lean further back each time. I have yet to try using my belt (just got it for Christmas), but I will give it a shot with a belt next time. I'm now doing a 15/12/10/8 rep scheme that Raynor provided, so I won't know my numbers for a few months, but I found leaning back to be the issue myself, where I have support when I'm seated. Nice thing about standing OHP is you can "force" a rep with your legs if you are gonna fail toward the end, which is pretty nice.

Yeah I also never do seated military BB press, either seated DB or standing OHP myself. This might change as I follow Raynors plan though, shit is brutal and has introduced me to a few new lifts I hadn't done so far (only one day in lol). I will just be doing seated for that, but in a few months I will check my OHP with belt and let you know how it changed when working high rep seated DB press

I do not grip asist.

Did DL tonight actually. 3x8x245

Yeah not impressive but my bad hamstring really affects my lifting, plus I've only been back at the gym for 2 1/2 months after not being for 3 1/2 years

5'9" 167lbs. So it's not like I'm big either...

Chalk works wonders as well. I don't use it because I'm not lifting heavy enough to need it yet, but come time, I'll be getting myself some.
