He's had a past of fucked up hormone levels, and this is certainly huge indication that shit is not where it should be. Depending on how long he was on (whatever type of ) steroids, his levels could be fucked for life, and he may need synthetic ones. Shit, that's even before puberty, and we all know how much long usage of synthetic hormones can do after and during puberty...

even miniscule amounts of an introduction of synthetic hormones completely shuts down the bodies production of it (temporarily)...and some people react to it really bad.

I had dem sterons for a few months when I was 10 or 11

Turned out okay

This, very possibly.

I think OP has a few options:

#1: See a different doctor. Someone who will actually give two shits and doesn't just go "wait a few years and see what happens".

#2: Wait a few years and see what happens. See a doctor about what you can do to improve the situation (prescription, nutrition plan, and work out). You're what... 15 or so? You still have growth spurt room, so things could change.

#3: Surgery. And explore the option of suing the doctor (I have no idea of the situation and whether or not he could be responsible for anything) so you can fund the surgery.

Good luck suing the doctor. Parents consented to the medication. There is no room for a malpractice lawsuit in this one.

How so? It wouldn't be his choice to be put on the medication, it would be his parents. Chances are, six years ago his parents were explained the risks of taking the steroid. Parents consented. There is no room for a malpractice lawsuit.

pretty sure if the doc had told them they would probably have to get their son cosmetic surgery in the future, they would have tried different treatments if possible.

There is no probably. There was a possibility. I'd like to see if a case has set precedence for something like this already.

Still waiting on OP to get back online but if it is Crohns there is no cure, and when you become dangerously malnourished, skinny and weak the sterons are pretty standard procedure to alleviate the worst of it

But then again who knows why he had child sterons

Ps I would be seriously surprised if cosmetic surgery would come under a 'need' if brought up in court, it's not a hideous deformity, plus no measures have been taken so far to lessen it
