Avoid horizontal bench?

no he means avoid using the smith machine when doing them. if you fail out you cant dump the weights or slide the bar off of you, youre basically pinned and cant move and your only hope is if someone is near by that can help you out.

I built a 54 inches chest pressing 135 on flat bench.

I know I'm not huge, but what I mean is that building mass doesn't entail using heavy weights, but a full ROM, slow motion, and maximum contraction, squeeze, or whatever you call it.

It doesn't mean that using really big numbers does not work. It's not a secret that Coleman, surely the biggest bodybuilder, was a powerlifter back in the days.

..
I don't believe you built a 54 inch chest with only 135.. simply impossible unless you're fat.

54" chest is fucking huge.. did you mean 45" chest with only 135? that's at least a bit more believable..

Not only this but just HATING cutting with a passion has inspired me though lol
after this cut as I bulk I'm going to do cardio at least 4 days a week.. for like 30+ mins each session but then will eat insane amounts. All the cardio will keep the fat off so I can lean bulk.. and the extra food=more anabolic=win

If you had read the following post, I said I fucked up the change cms/inches. It's 49 inches actually. And yes, it was with 1 45 lbs plate each side of the bar until I started to train a little for strength. But you don't need to go much higher to build a big chest. The friend with whom I train is stronger than me, but much weaker than the rest of the forum (or not really weaker, but we both usually do much lighter weights, and he surely has a better chest than almost this whole forum, with the exception of 1 or 2 persons.
