For a while.. Then it gets to the point it is now - mostly boring, except without the "excitement" that the geared up athletes add to it.
Everyone on gear would get VERY boring VERY quick, because it would be the same shit over and over. Unless, of course, a linebacker
decided to roid-rage a ref through the uprights..

i guess it'd be nice if just a few more people decided to in each sport and they dominated and made it funner to watch xD

I'm not advocating that everyone in pro sports be on steroids or anything like that. What I'm getting at is, there is a good number of people in professional sports who take steroids, which makes it unfair for those who don't. They can't catch them all, so there will always be those with performance enhancing drugs. If it is inevitable to stop them, and if you know they can be monitored and used correctly, then why keep them out?

In simpler terms, if there will always be an advantage and disadvantage present, then why not open the doors to level the playing field for everyone? (This is ENTIRELY hypothetical and just an out there thought)

tough to define, but it has to be more complex then throwing a disc..track and feild isnt a sport IMO it more just a series of physical tests

but thats off topic

steroids simply cannot be allowed in sports, its just true

maybe so, but i can confidently say that most of the elite people in track and field could transfer to other sports and do well, but the best at other sports could transfer to track and not do as well..

go find a 4.5lb discus and throw it 80 yards, a 16lb shot put 25 yards, a 16lb hammer 90 yards, or a 2lb javelin 100 yards...jump over an 8 foot bar (not just touch it, but get your whole body over it), run and jump a distance of almost 30 feet, finish a mile in under 4 minutes, or run ~110 yards in under 10 seconds

then take athletes who can do those types and of things and give them a football, basketball or whatever else and see how they do

but anyway, to the steroids thing, i say again: they are already there and it will be impossible to get them out, so people will always have an advantage in that way

im not really sure if u guys advocating widespread steroid use r serious or just laughing about hypothetical things that logically could never happen

arguement 1: steroids increase how much training ur able to do, therefor its just increasing ur capacity
counter arguement: then ur jsut in a competition to who can get the best steroids to give u the most extra-training time before u overtrain and ur in a competition to who can pump them selves the most, to get more time. Thus rewarding those that use steroids not in moderation and irresponsibly, making any1 who wants to excel in their sport, have to fuck up their bodies via steroid abuse

arguement 2: steroids r here and impossible to get out.
counter arguement: Yes this is true, but the ammount of tests available keep steroids somewhat in check. Lots of guys do steroids a little and dont get caught for it but thats really not so bad, its just a small advantage at that level. When guys really gear up, it becomes noticable, and they get banned form their sport and their name gets trashed. Also im sure technological advancements will come that can test shit better, tech is always evolving

arguement 3: it makes sports more fun to watch.
counter arguement: not really... it will encourage doses of steroids so high that it in effect makes the athletes glass cannons. They will become overly muscular and be injured half of the time, and also have far shortened careers. Athletes will be defined not by their skill, and more by the scientist behind them and what they r fed. Can u imagine under the athletes stats, it lists what type of steroids he has/currently is cycling? Also this will discourage kids from growing up to be athletes and minor leaguers from breaking into the majors, because they will be apprehensive about committing to the irreversable process of pumping their bodies full of steroids

and dont argue that people will use steroids intelligently if they r allowed. They will abuse them to get the quickest/fastest results, regardless of the long-term effects

go google articles on steroids in sports and why its impractical, im sure theres alot of sports journalists that can articulate the reasoning behind steroids not being allowed in sports much better than me, and it will be much less rare to find people in support of steroids

i'm getting sick of hearing this. sure they are working hard but i work as hard as my body allows me, saying they work harder relative to what their body allows is incorrect

You can only work so hard and much until you hit begin to overtrain.
Using gear puts your limits much higher before you can overtrain.

This for butters. You may train as hard as your body lets you. That's great! But if you can't reach a certain level with your limit and you gear up, you'll break your limit.
