Competition Weekend
It's over and my body is destroyed. Went in and stretched this morning cause my legs were trashed, legs feel fine now, but now my biceps and forearms are in pain from the atlas stone.
Placed 45th. Which considering the competition isn't bad. There was 5+ guys that had a 345lb Clean in the first event. Fucking ridiculous.
Awesome learning experience. There was a handful of professional photographers and for 20$ you get the whole event's pictures on a USB mailed to you, so i'l get some pics up eventually.
Initially it was suppose to be 4 workouts, including 1 outdoor workout then the finals for a total of 5 events.
Well they decided to make it 6 events and the finals the 7th. I didn't make the finals but i'm sorta glad i didnt.
Event 1
9:30am
12 minute Find your Max Clean. ( May be Squat clean, power clean etc etc, just need to show full control at the top with full extension.
Then 2 minutes rest
Event 2
2100m Row for time.
I pr'd my clean by 20lbs with a straight up fucking power clean at 235lbs which i was stoked for. I had 12 seconds left and quickly slapped on 10 lbs and JUST didnt get my elbows around for a 245lb.
Finished the row pretty slowly at 8:17. I started out way too hard and burned out at about 1500m.
Event 3
11:00am
10 minute time Cap
4 rounds
10 Shoulder to over head @ 135lbs, shoulders must lock out at the top.
30 ft Walking lunge @ 135lbs in the front rack, must bring both feet together
Every time you drop you bar you have a 4 burpee over the bar penalty. Must jump with both feet at the same time over the bar, chest must contact the ground. There was a ton of no reps of these in this event
My leg's were still massacred from the row, ended up time capping just before finishing the last set of lunges. End time ended up being 10:06 i think.
Event 4
2:00pm
Snatch Ladder.
This was an interesting event. 50 Seconds to complete 3 touch and go snatches. No pause allowed at the bottom, must touch the ground and be lifting off the ground immediately. Whether you go straight into another snatch or bring it to the hip crease to readjust grip, or lower it for a hang snatch or to even just rest for a couple seconds then continue into a hang snatch is totally up to you. If you fail at any of the 3 reps, you may re try the 3 with how ever much time you have left.
If you CANNOT complete the snatches with the weight, finish the rest of the time off with full extension deadlifts. Deadlifts are used for tie breakers etc
10 seconds After the 50 seconds to move to the next weight before the 50second clock starts again to complete the next 3 snatches.
Weight for the mens ladder went, 95lbs, 115lbs, 135lbs, 155lbs, 175lbs, 185lbs, 195lbs, 205lbs, 215lbs, 225lbs. For a total of 30 snatches in the allowed time.
I failed at my 3rd snatch at 155lbs. Finished with 18 deadlifts with what ever of the 50 seconds remained. This was suprisingly harder than it looks. Not being able to get your stance at the bottom fucks the whole thing up.
Only 1 male and female completed the entire snatch ladder. The guy who finished the ladder was unreal.
Event 5
4:00pm
For time
3 rounds
10 thrusters @ 95lbs
150m 135lb Sled drag.
Super simple but i ended up having one of the slowest times for the mens for this event. My leg's were so destroyed, the sled drag felt way heavier than 135lbs.
11:06 i think. Which is extremely slow. On the astro turf it was even harder.
Event 6 OUTDOOR WOD ( What made this event interesting, was when it was my heat, it was -18 outside with a 52km wind. With wind chill it was like -31 outside. )
10:00am
10minute time cap.
Atlas Stone / Hill run. About a 25m flat run in almost a foot a snow, then a straight down hill. I don't exaggerate this at all. I can't wait to get pictures to show how shitty this was.
5 Atlas stone cleans @ 150lbs, the entire stone must clear the crest of the shoulder blade, whether you bail it behind you, or drop it back in front of you is up to you.
200m Hill run
4 Atlas stone cleans @ 150lbs
200 m Hill run
3 Atlas stone cleans
200m hill run
2 Atlas stone cleans
200m hill run
1 Atlas stone clean
200m hill run, must touch your stone at the end for official time
Ended up time capping. Just started my round of 2 cleans. The cleans weren't bad, but after the 5 previous leg workouts and the hill run, my legs were 100% done. My favorite event by far though. So fun.
The final WOD
I didn't make the finals, but it was awesome to watch. I got video of the girl i went with and some of the mens and masters finals.
13 minute time cap for everything to be completed.
3 rounds
5 reps of 315lb deadlift
3 rope climbs
Then
3 rounds
5 Overhead squats @ 155lbs ( Hip crease must drop below the knee otherwise a no rep.)
5 muscle ups ( Full extension at the top, seen a couple no reps cause of a early release.
Then
3 rounds
5 Burpee box jumps @ 30'
5 Deficit hand stand pushups, butt and hips CANNOT touch/be touching the wall.
Then 100 wallballs.
No one completed the whole workout within the 13 minutes, 1 masters competitor made it to the wall balls and 6-7 of the mens made it to the wallballs.
Amazing weekend, i'l get pictures up at one point. But i just finished eating and no its time to have another shake and have a nap.
Cheers.
