I've asked you a few things before, but I have something new. Well, I recently got my gym membership back, recently being today. I am leaving for boot camp for the Marines on September 13th, possibly June or July if someone drops out. But I was curious to see if you could help me with a workout routine, I'm not trying to bulk, maybe some lean muscle but that's it. I really need to get my pull-up's up and run time and such. Should I being doing high reps of exercises and cardio, plus what exercises, would wind sprints or something be better than a long run be better for cardio? And another question, would it be ok for me to do cardio in the mornings and weights at night? Any help would be appreciated. :] Thanks.
considering your career choice, you are going to need to focus on the specific exercises you are going to get hammered with.
Pushups
Pullups
Situps
You need to be hammering these out every day or at least every other day in the form of 5 sets of failure reps.
as far as gym exercises go...stick to all the basic exercises....bench press, deadlifts, cleans, military press, squats, curls, dips, etc.
Do one major muscle group per day:
chest
back
legs
shoulders
arms
as far as cardio goes...this is the big one.
Try swimming and also try doing sprints in addition to long distance runs...do these at least 5 days a week (post workout)
make sure you eat enough carbs before and after training
