Besides partial tearing my pec on weighted dips, I remember when I was way younger I didnt have safety clips on my heavy barbell bench press. I heard one of the 45 lb plates sliding off as I was trying to get past a sticking point and couldnt do anything about it. Once the weights fell off, the other side just went flying towards the bench next to me. THANK GOD nobody was occupying that other bench.
I feel safer benching without clips cause I bench without spots and if I get stuck I can at least drop the weights 1 side at a time.
