capoeira imo, even when you get your ass kicked, you still know how to dance.

the origins of capoeira, and how it came about is pretty crazy and interesting. something about slaves practicing how to fight in a way that looked like they were only dancing.

still a joke of a "martial art" when all is said and done, though

Muay Thai is probably the best form of real world fighting mixed with BJJ if it is inevitably drawn to the ground

Muay Thai is fucking vicious if it's utilized properly

I second this.

Sounds like you handled the situation well... Try to remain calm and avoid fighting if you can, even run away from the scene if you can. You never know who the other person truly is, or what weapons they may have.

If you have no other choice but to fight, fight for your life and win. Then get to safety.

1. Muay Thai
2. Jiu Jitsu

This.

Leg kicks for days (no chance anyone is getting off with that, even a normal person has a chance to block a headkick/body), striking at a distance (and teep to keep them there, kneecap or body/chest) and elbow/clinch because most street fights end up hugging and falling to the ground.
I say falling because it's rarely a takedown. I think a lot of it is either there or not, naturally. A lot of people are all mouth anyway in my experience, I end up smiling or laughing in their face and they end up piping down suddenly once they realise they don't have you scared.

Even just 3 months doing Muay Thai you will get the better of most of your average people if need be.

DISCLAIMER: I'm from England and pretty safe from guns, possible odd knife or bar but no guns, lol.
