He's saying you can eat what your body needs and make gains but not really gain a bunch of weight in the process. You don't have to be in a 750 calorie surplus to see strength gains. Strength doesn't necessarily correlate with mass.

Sure eating a big calorie surplus guarantees you're getting what your body needs to grow and get stronger/put on mass, but it isn't 100% necessary. Think of it as a "clean bulk," if you will..

Even on a 250 kcal surplus you won't be able to continue for years like he said. You will have to cut eventually.
Btw, that is a bulk.

Nutrition is literally the most inadequately executed aspect of anyone's fitness journey when they begin. And it's also the easiest aspect to manage.

I never said eat in a surplus. Maintenance calories with adequate protein intake and other macro/micro will see strength gains with no real weight change. Sure a higher calorie intake may speed the process up, but it isn't impossible

I'm talking about muscle gains not just strength gain. Sure, you can even gain strength in a deficit. But muscle gain in a deficit? Not a chance, unless obese. Even though it's difficult without proper guidance.

While becoming stronger your muscles will obviously grow and look bigger. People think they have more muscle gain in a huge surplus when in reality it's a lot of fat

strength =\= growth

You can get stronger in a deficit. But you won't grow.

I don't know what your second statememt is addressing Regarding what I've said.
Tear said this .. And I'm saying I disagree

im just saying you're wasting your time bulking and cutting.

literally zero point. [to cut within first 4-5 years]

you can sit at 185 and watch your body grow without gaining a pound, i did for 2-3 years.

dont cut for like the first 4-5 years of lifting.

Bulking and cutting aren't as difficult as people make it out to be. Eating in a surplus is integral for optimal growth. For Most guys that bust their asses in the gym that don't get the results, it usually comes down to the fact that they aren't eating enough.

It's not feasible for anyone to consistently bulk for 4-5 years without cutting. Our bodies are just biological machines. It all comes back to energy in vs out.

I'm just saying it's not impossible with a strict diet.

I eat in a surplus and deficit, not disagreeing

I'm not wasting my time cutting. I don't want to be overweight and I don't want to be neurotic and meticulous with my diet where my caloric intake is sitting at maintenance with a fuck ton of protein. You can't be at a surplus and just stay the same weight for years.

Tear I've seen your physique and it's impressive, but it's something I never want for myself. Not everyone has body image issues or the feeling that they have to be the biggest in the room.

So you might see it as useless to cut, but everyone has different goals and not everyone cares about bodybuilding. I'm never going to compete in bodybuilding or powerlifting so I genuinely don't care.

Wouldn't your crohns keep you from getting that big anyways?

That is part of it, but not if I am lucky enough to stay in remission.

I just don't have any want to ever be that big.
