Yes sorry I didn't mean during the actual pa course. I meant during any makeup courses I might need. So I should be good to go with the bsn route though? Plus schooling while getting my bsn will help cover my necessary 2k hours for pa. All dependent on me not liking an np job.

Yea it's the safest route, but shadow a nurse before you dedicate yourself to it. It's a great paying job, minimal requirements and great upward mobility. But the job is not for most people.

Few other notes:

PAs are widely more respected in the medical world over NPs.

PAs are more common in East coast and NPs in West coast.

PA is national certification, NP is state certification

NP can only practice independently in 23 states.

If your in California, UC Davis offers a dual masters program, Masters in Nurse Practitioner. But it is extended by 8 months (?) to cover the PA side of medicine. At the end of the graduate program you take both the NP certification test AND the PA national certification test. Completion of the program allows you to practice as either/or.

So many factors play into health care pay.
Education level
Experience
Settings
Night shift
Holiday
Overtime
Gender (murses make significantly more, due to low supply)

Trying to figure out what I want to strive to become in my future. Post your choice of the ones above and please state why. I'd like to hear some opinions on each career option.

Also if there's other related careers you have in mind, null your vote and post about it.

Thanks

Out of all of those, CRNA easily.. Work 2-3 days a week and make upwards of 200k a year..

PA is a joke job unless you want to be a hospitalist your entire life, Cardiologist is a completely different path, and judging by your other options probably unrealistic.

Crnas are the happiest nurses I've ever met.. "here's some propofol, I'm going to read my book now."

Edit: you could achieve any of these before becoming a CRNA.. I think you need minimum of 4 years critical care experience and a dnp

Do you know how possible it is to get rn and become hired without your bsn and work part time while taking online bsn classes?

Depends on where you live and where you want to work. Some areas you'd need a bsn to get a hospital job and others an adn works. Best to just check your local listings.

Nurses who are males don't make more than females but it may be easier for them to get a job.
