It wasn't a school. It's an army course. It was more like balls to the wall learn as much as you can so you can get back in the field and train.

Yeah, that's what I would like to learn, Canadian forces doesn't even teach hand to hand combat anymore. We get 2x 40 minute lectures on how, and then some bayonnet against stationary mannequins... That's fuking shit.

It wasn't that useful to be honest. You got more hurt than anything because of shit like takedown days. We ran the 'gauntlet' which was takedown after takedown. After so many tree-tops you'll mess up the landing eventually and get hurt. A tree-top as they called it was basically catching the opponent's leg and taking a step back while lifting up. You basically dumped someone on their head, shoulder, or elbow which easily ended in injury. They justified it by saying: 'You're practicing your fall.'

The Army is stupid imo. I hear the Marines are worse at it. At being stupid that is.

Best thing to learn is BBJ and boxing followed by Muay Thai in that order. Just watch a few UFC, K1, PRIDE matches and you'll see. The match always goes to the ground. BBJ is #1. The match starts with boxing, American boxing is #2 although I like the Mexican style better. If you are good and you can get in pummel range, Muay Thai, the art of 8 limbs, can be devastating.

no, you cant compare a sport with real life situation. You do not want a real fight to go to the ground. theres is no rule, do you really feel like having one of that guy friend kick you in the head while you try to do some bjj???
Im not saying not to learn any ground game but you definitly want to learn stand up before.
