still nobody realizes the analogy here of rowing (watersport) vs cable rowing for pullups vs kip-ups???

theres absolutely nothing wrong with that movement, except for maybe some over internal rotation. youre taking a simple, discrete movement like the cable row and altering it slightly/reducing the resistance to make it cyclical and change the goal of the activity from a muscular strength focus to an endurance focus such as in rowing (in a boat). kip ups are the endurance version of a pull up. the goal of the movement is not to see how much weight you can move once, its to see how many times you can move the same amount of weight

A whole lot of ppl bashing crushing because of form issues have form issues themselves on basic movements...Pretty ironic right?

Any sports and/or skills poorly executed are bad crossfit or not. However crossfit itself is awesome in my opinion. Best thing to happen to strength related sport in decades.

u can kip to get better at doing kip ups

theres nothing optimal about that movement, the range of motion is shit, using momentum to move the body up puts more stress on the joints and you look like a fish out of water, wobbling around like that o.o

I started with crossfit.. its the only exercise they offered when i was in rehab.. i think it would be good for a cut.. ive never sweated so much in my life. its the same shit we do in the gym basically except its all timed.. and thats why people usually have bad form because they want to get all theyre reps in before the times up so the sacrifice form.

didn't read through all of the thread..but, my dislike about crossfit was poorly performed exercises and injury - i don't believe that technical and explosive movements should be done in a highly fatigued state (doing snatches when exhausted is just asking for trouble)

other than that, crossfit (aka, glorified circuit training) is undeniably a great way to get in shape

if the cult mentality and the 'throw it in your face how awesome I am because I crossfit' thing are dropped, then it will probably lose most of the hate that is held toward it

on a side note, it is also annoying when people who do crossfit like to say that other methods of training are inferior because they aren't crossfit..that just means that there is no 'specificity of training', which is important in many sports (circuit training was basically my preseason warm-up for the sport specific training haha)

Love to see a couple of housewives do some snatch and jerks with form that takes elite athletes years to master

You have no evidence for any of those statements you're just using them because they're the go to arguments against crossfit. They're false by the way

Not like you need a lifting degree to jerk 65 lbs.

Same argument could be made when I see ppl bench press lol.
