Depends on your definition of "in shape". Everyone is telling you to get a gym membership because that is what is effective.

If you want to lose some weight that can be done through diet.

If you want to work your heart, go outside and run.

If you are looking to build muscle get a fuckin gym membership. Doing loads of push ups and sit ups is just going to let you do more push ups and sit ups. It is a waste of time.

if you eat well it will keep you tone

you could incorporate other bodyweight exercises/start a calisthenic routine etc

that's what i have to do when i have to study and no time for the gym

just pop on a quick 20min calisthenic yt video, get the juices flowing and then hit the books

Well after like 20 minutes at the gym alone I get bored, that's how I feel.

...so far, I'm seeing excuses as to why you *can't* go, and not reasons why you *can* or *should*.

So, do you want to keep listing excuses why you can't, or do you want to start listing reasons why you can and should?

Well at this moment I can't because I don't have the money to, I'm planning to sign up to a gym in September and I tried to get my friends on board. The only thing that kept me going to the gym was the pool.

Step 1: Set reasonable goals for yourself. Weight, BF%, Bench Press, Squat, Deadlift.
Step 2: Get gym membership
Step 3: Go to gym, after several weeks do you see progress?? Try and up the weight every week, even if it's just 5 lbs.
Step 4: Diet has alot to do with looking & feeling good so try and eat clean (money is a problem to you so idk about this one).

So there's absolutely no way to get back in shape without going to the gym?

just judging off these words if you dont have the drive to even get yourself to a gym it doesnt matter what you try, you wont have the dedication/motivation to get fit.

I've always been lazy, I signed up for the Reserve to change my habits and in June I'm going to be doing my BMQ (basic military qualification) so I'm trying to get back in shape so that's why this 300 pushups and sit ups thing seems interesting to me.

Unfortunately, nothing worth doing is easy. If doing 300 push ups and sit ups a day got everyone absolutely shredded everyone would do it and skip the gym. What I would recommend to you, is try going to the gym four times a week for 30-40 minutes and then build up from there. Get your compound lifts in and a couple accessories. When I first started I also felt bored at the gym, now I feel like I dont spend enough time there because I enjoy being there so much. Once you start to see results, you are more motivated to keep going.

I can only start going to the gym after my BMQ which is like mid september if I'm not wrong. So far my workout at home consists of jogging outside, pushups, situps, squats, dips, chin ups and pull ups.
