Note to self: never get stuck in a burning house when it's pouring with rain cos snazzy is going to take 10+ minutes to save me and fall over a lot

Haha not gonna lie, this made me laugh pretty hard.

LOLOLOL I died at this.

At snazzy... dude, were the guys you were doing the cpat with all fat, out of shape people...? I pretty much walked mine, and got like 7 min... jebus breh...

Come on mang.. if you're ever in T.DOT, stop by my hall and say hi :)

I walked mine pretty slowly because of my shoes and not trying to slip and roll my ankle. Still in the ankle brace at the moment. Normally I'd run the hose drag section. And I slipped so much in the wooden search maze I had to do it all on my stomach commando crawling. Easily lost 2 minutes in the whole course due to traction.

There was one dude so large that he couldn't fit through the maze. I'm impressed he made it past the stair master honestly. The guy in front of me had a bad case of jello legs coming off the stair master and face planted immediately. He ended it right there.

Some people just amaze me... like yeah, you need to be fit for firefighting... Big shocker there, dumb ass... Some of the guys I see stop by my hall asking for help... like I dont want to be rude, but getting a gym membership would be the first place to start bud.

How does one go about getting into this career? I have always been curious.

Do you just walk into your local fire department and say you want to sign up?

Toronto has a few pre service programs that help you get in

But they're pretty expensive

make perfect sense imo, they are going to be working in all sort of weather conditions, they have to be ready for everything.

But some people don't deal with it, until after hired(passed test)

Yeah I don't understand some of the people who showed up for the orientation last month. Big ol boys, tiny girls, quite the older gentlemen.. I'm sure they had quite the shock during their test. Now I understand why they had paramedics there for the test and forced everyone to get checked out after.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not Mr Olympia. But I'm fit, and I spent months training for the specific events on the course. Pretty sure some of the people who took the test had never set foot in a gym.

sad. Who knows, maybe some of em will get serious and come back one day and do well.

I feel the same way about some of the people I took my college program with. Waste of a lot of money and a year of their lives, but who knows, maybe they'll turn it around.

I hope so. But it's also a career that I hope they wouldnt be going for unless they were 100% serious about it. I'm sure the fitness test was an eye opener for a lot of people.

I never understood people who payed for classes and then slacked off.

You walked during the hose drag?
I haven't taken the cpat but I took the biddle and I heard its harder and I flew right thru it and so did mostly everyone that took it. I'm out in SoCal too

Yeah because of the rain. I figured walking it was better than possibly slipping. I tore all the ligaments and tendons in my left ankle 6 months ago and I'm still a little paranoid. I ran the hose drag during the practice session and had no issues. Keep in mind, the hose drag is the only section of the course you can run, and it's 80 feet.

I lost some seconds on the hose drag walking, in the search maze because I had to use mostly arms, and lost a bunch of time on the dummy drag because I couldnt keep traction. All in all it wasn't a fitness reason I ran it slower than needed. Id say it was a combination of the downpour, my shoes in the rain, and my paranoia about my ankle. But that's just life man. Nothing I can do about rain.

I know what to work on for when I retake it in a couple weeks, and I'll wear different shoes if it happens to rain that day. :P
