cut til 10% bf. clean bulk til you hit a rock. dirty bulk to 15% rinse repeat

lean meats
good fats
leafy greens
oatmeal brown rice main source of carbs fruit in moderation ok esp in morning
dont drink any drinks with sugar in them - try sticking with water/unsweetened ice tea/black coffee/other hot tea instead

avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup or hydronated oils (i.e trans fat) if the label says 0% and still has that it means they have some but rounded down to 0 which is legal so avoid those cuz it adds up.

Just start by eating as clean as you can.

Cut all processed foods, all fake sugars, aim for like 200g protein a day... Start there, you're 16... So you're still in highschool which I will assume means you aren't buying your own groceries and cooking all your own meals.

Just try and eat fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, meats... Depending on how intense your workouts are you may need to add more carbs but you should be able to get plenty from things like sweet potatoes.

At the end of the day you're entering your absolute prime, you've barely lifted at all in your life, and even a decent diet and lifting program will probably get you great results.

When I was 16..... Omg I ate like shit, trained like shit, had terrible form, and still was making 10x the gains in a say 6 month period that I do now in my early 20s lol, even tho my programming and diet are 100x as good

Edit: please don't blindly follow these "if it fits your macro" kids... pay close attention to what people tell you, anyone that's saying you can eat a sleeve of Oreos a night because they fit your macros... Needs to be ignored.m

Edit edit: man I thought the bball forum was bad with trolling lol. People ask for help and get no where here.

LOL please don't listen to this guy. For the love of god.

don't you want to stay away from starches and other certain types of foods like high fructose or something like that? I also have a 5lb tub of Muscle Pharm Chocalate Peanut butter Protein. I usually take 2 scoops. I haven't been taking it though cause I was trying to cut out weight but I definitely need to start taking it again.

1g of protein and carb = 4 calories. 1 g of fat = 9 calories

Carbs are the number 1 source of energy that your body uses for your brain and plenty of other things. Please don't avoid carbs.

Please explain.

Your going to tell a 16 year old thats just starting dieting for his first time to count all his macros? The kids in highschool still for god sakes lol.

He's not even grocery shopping and buying his own food yet.

These IIFYM kids get so delusional that any other type of dieting could actually work.

That or they dont want to be told that they should be eating fast food and candy even though it "fits their macros."

I eat fast food almost daily. I eat poptarts, candy bars, and cliff bars daily.

You act like counting macros is super hard and that highschoolers can't do it LOL.

Other diets work, sure. They don't usually make a lot of sense though.
