my step mom use to get 60 bars a month.. every month... thats 2.0 MG Xanax a day.. so yes they do prescribe large amounts.

what does that have to do with this person or what he would receive lol... your step mom probably had a panic disorder or something else like bad GAD!
think of the specific patient... you're talking about a guy withdrawing and posting about it on JSP who felt better after a coffee n dabs lol
all he needs is symptom coverage and he is good man... nothing heavy duty, nothing long term

also Xanax is a lot more intense (habit-forming and potent) than something like 0.25s of clonazepam or 0.5 mg Ativan or 5mg diazepam :P
still, sometimes patients need 10mg Xanax to feel okay... usually a specialist will provide it though

It baffles me that some people can let themselves get addicted to any type of substance.

some people are not raised well, and live in poor areas where drugs are more common and less emphasis on school and other societal activities
instead they sit on their porch high as fuk all day and drinking etc...

It's obvious you live a sheltered existence, and there's nothing wrong with that
