I always meet new people / find good spotters or new friends in the gym by just working in or letting people work in with me. I have never had a problem letting people work in. We only have two bench presses , three squat racks and three deadlift platforms so its not uncommon for people to work in with each other.

Easy. Don't use machines.

But on a real note : I hate when people ask me when i'm done, on say, the bench and then stand around awkwardly until I am done. I take my time and do as many sets as I need to.

I have asked people to work in before on like leg press when I would do legs at lunch (basically needed it - I would just burn out reps at their weight until they left and then up it)

Edit: see the same people every day, so I don't think they cared.

This is the most insecure post, LOL. I ask people all the time how long they have left on the bench of squat rack so I can see how long I would have to wait, I might be able to fit in a different workout while I wait. People ask me all the time as well and I don't take it personally. Stop being a pussy and getting offended by a simple question.

Well I just got back from the gym guys. It happened again. This time I was on the pullup bar cycling sets with my mate and this guy asked me how long I was gonna be. I said "3 more sets each sorry", but then said he could cycle in if he wanted. He said sure and then we cycled sets. He was American and from Colorado State University (is this good or bad?)

bad, its actually really fuckin bad that you have to ask such question...
