6-7 is plenty

Your body will adapt

i believe the body may adapt in that you think you are not as tired

yet the sleep deficit will create issues that you will be less likely to notice over time

i usually try to get at least 8, but im always still tired

then there are days ill only get 6 and i feel perfectly fine at work...

not sure what to make of that

quality of sleep is really important. Also, sleeping when it's dark and waking after a long enough sleep when the sun comes up definitely helps

I'm the same. Sometimes i get way less sleep than normal but feel fine (like sometimes 3-4 hours) and other times I get a solid 8 hours and feel groggy as fuck.

The question was how much sleep do you need to avoid feeling tired

Not what is optimal for health and longevity.

Still applies

Falling and rising with the sun... Wtf?? During winter the sun could set ~5-6pm depending on location and time zones, and rise at 7-8 am etc.

Literally as much as you need. But to be more scientific falling and rising with sun is probably the most sufficient way unless it varies a lot.

I get only 6 during the week... which is not enough on 1-2 hours of cardio per day. Results in me crashing for some serious sleep on weekends.

A dark room helps with the sun shit.

I work rotational, I'm either waking up at 4am for work, or 2pm

Always get around 4-5, but I could get longer if I chose to by going to bed earlier or just sleeping longer.
But duct taping a black out curtain to my window helps me sleep in peace

I work nights, have to use this thing.

I have a fear my roommate will wipe his ass with it when I'm gone (I'll fucking kill him). He's a douche bag and we don't get along.

Depends on so many things. If you are excited for something, less. If you're willing to eat a proper breakfast, also less.

If you're depressed, or don't have anything particularly interesting happening in life currently, more. If you eat like shit, more.

General rule is: 8+ hours is borderline sickness.. if you literally cannot leave your bed without 9 hours or so, you're probably suffering from depression or some kind of sickness.

Experiment with 7 hours on a good diet / life routine. Most people can easily function like this

lol proper breakfast = not needing as much sleep
