Guessing that hitting my calories for the day is more important than protein intake? Also I would assume I need to intake more due to going to the bathroom quite a bit.
Can anyone actually explain the physiology of the corticosteroids and breaking down the muscle? Like is it really that crazy of a catabolic effect, or is it just more long term stuff?
Yeah, these are hormones released from your adrenal cortex to inhibit any immune response (hives, rashes, allergies) therefore meaning your body's natural defense is compromised making you more prone to opportunistic infections (candida/fungal).
It inhibits synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, and other stuff that causes an immune response.
It also puts you at risk for early osteoperosis (decrease in bone density).
it causes proteolysis/muscle wasting and lipolysis and gluconeogenesis, mechanism probably being the same mechanism as adrenaline/NA/cortisol....all stress hormones...
