You had a barium meal taken to check for any gastric or intestinal obstruction.
Chron's and UC are 2 completely different diseases.
To stop the catabolic effects of corticosteroids...well first of all it makes you immunocompromised making you more prone to certain infections, so I suggest you stick to taking a multivitamin + vitamin C + a high protein diet + constant fluid/electrolytes. That's my best guess/suggestion, unless you have symptoms of malabsorption then that's different.

Guessing that hitting my calories for the day is more important than protein intake? Also I would assume I need to intake more due to going to the bathroom quite a bit.

Can anyone actually explain the physiology of the corticosteroids and breaking down the muscle? Like is it really that crazy of a catabolic effect, or is it just more long term stuff?

Yeah, these are hormones released from your adrenal cortex to inhibit any immune response (hives, rashes, allergies) therefore meaning your body's natural defense is compromised making you more prone to opportunistic infections (candida/fungal).

It inhibits synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, and other stuff that causes an immune response.

It also puts you at risk for early osteoperosis (decrease in bone density).

it causes proteolysis/muscle wasting and lipolysis and gluconeogenesis, mechanism probably being the same mechanism as adrenaline/NA/cortisol....all stress hormones...

Getting my humira tomorrow! Pretty excited about it.

Dropped from 30 mg to 25 mg of prednisone today as well.

Now how bad of an idea is it to lift and be on prednisone and humira?

Well I was supposed to go on Humira right away and it got caught up with the whole insurance thing. My doctor had me go on prednisone because I was going like 10 times a day with blood. I am now weening off the prednisone and my Humira comes tomorrow. If I could stop the prednisone, I would immediately.

Unfortunately for me, the prednisone isn't really working that well, but it did make things better.

I really hope you had stool samples taken + culture/sensitivity tests to rule out parasitic infection/bacterial dysentery.

Nah. I've had colonoscopies, stool samples, endoscopes, and so many more things.
