Yeah it does seem retarded but the more hydrated I am for the race the better. Drinking the amount of water I do the day before requires me to stop for only 1 water break, 2 at absolute most and I never feel dehydrated. This just means less time slowing down/walking while drinking the water - which means a better overall time. It might seem minimal to stop for a quick drink but it does add up. All I can say is being hydrated for the race works wonders for me. I sweat a shit ton during exercise so I dehydrate quickly.
