The walk out will come as he continues to work with a higher % of his 1rm.  It didn't seem like his core was wobbly.  Just his legs, in which case, makes it more of a CNS issue than anything.

@Op - congrats man.  Personally, I would go for another inch or two lower, but if you prefer not to, it didn't look bad.  Knees stayed open.  Overall, great squat if you prefer to stay at that depth.

That first time you put 4 plates on feels bad fuckin ass.  Although, the weight feels like it is going to just collapse your spinal column.  Soon, you'll be at 500 and 4 plates will feel like a joke :D

Props brah.  4 plates is more than 99% of this forum will ever see.

I didn't really mean that exactly, I just see a lot of guys will waste energy/movement on their walk out. Take more steps out then they need, wiggle their feet into position, etc. You can see him shift his weight back and forth a few times, looking down, then finally looks up and is ready to go.

I'm guilty of the same thing, but was just saying it is something to pay attention to and try to work on.

And yes, his squat depth was a little high, but I think if you narrow your stance just a little bit, it may be easier for you to drop that extra 2-3 inches.

ya I didn't think the extra inch or two of depth would be worth the additional risk of getting hurt

I don't compete or anything so I have no reason to go lower

Im on my phone so i didnt watch the video but if you really did care about not getting hurt you would not be maxing out.

If you went an inch or two lower you would have failed miserably. I used to squat about 345 at that depth. Started hitting below parallel and 315 was hard as hell.

It's definitely easier to get lower with wider stance. At least for me.

You may find wide stance is easier to hit parallel with a heavier weight

But close stance is easier to go atg. Hip flexibility issue

Honestly it's not such a bad lift. Yeah the form is off but it's still an achievement. We should be encouraging each other. I think the legs are out more than needed and the ass could come back more to help drop the hips, but overall if it's a PR w/o a spotter then vn1, and keep working on the form :) The vertical line of the bar isn't so bad but it's not efficient/optimized = what I'm saying.

I would rather praise the effort and the achievement than anything here. Also, I came into the topic expecting much less because I read it as a 152 lbs squat so I was preparing to recommend some leg presses to start :D

edit: you may find this really useful. Looks weird in the gym but worth it as a practice tool for the hips:

Not as much about the width as the ability to get the hips moving.
