You really are as dumb as I thought if you're doing max effort deads and squats with a cracked rib. Nothing manly about it. Just stupidity.

Cracked rib on Monday, it doesn't appear on an x-ray yet, and doctor said it was fine to do "minor physical activities"

soo max effort day

1x5 squats 260 (these really hurt)
1x5 177.5 bench felt really easy!
5x1 deadlifts 335lbs improved my form dramatically, flexing the lats as hard as i can and pulling myself in closer to the bar.

somehow the video got muted as soon as i uploaded it... >.>

To do some actual reps.

I'd probably run 4 x 6 at 80-85% for two weeks at 2x deadlift sessions per week. Pull either 6x3 or 8x2 at 87-92% or so. Than back to a few weeks of highrr reps. Rinse and repeat.

But hey who knows maybe lifting singles of 335 after 2-3 years of lifting is his goal!

At the end of the day stop using templates for everything. Know a few basic principles and figure out what works for you. There's so many programs because people actually took the time to figure out what worked for them and made it available for public use.

Have some fun and do the same.

What is wrong with using singles for a late Novice lifter especially for deadlift? Read this http://marylandpowerlifting.com/2014/10/14/train-the-deadlift/

If I could go back in time I would have adopted singles training for deadlift almost from the beginning.

it's just 5x1 instead of 1x5

I haven't been lifting for 2-3 years either...

the singles were an awesome idea, helps keep my form through all the lifts

rib really hurt after the weekend, so today I just did my bench and skipped squats and deads

160x5x5 bench
