I remember Eric Helms stating that of all the studies he's seen regarding extended TUT, there wasn't much difference in sarcoplasmic growth between an average TUT compared to doing ungodly slow reps.

Hmm, that's interesting. I wonder about the loads/intensities used, total volume, actual tempos used, groups, etc. I guess then I'd just like to see the studies :P
I'm really not sure conclusively either way. I'll let lightman handle it, as he's talked about longer TUTs and hitting certain thresholds quite a bit

Yeah, as I explained in the article it may well point that longer TUT is nice, but definitely they could have used higher %... Brb 30 and 80% of 1RM.

Nice
I've also read that longer TUTs/higher volume has a propensity to activate/proliferate satellite cells as well.. although that's probably as a result of increased metabolic stress overall

We really just need Liron to make a nice post detailing the role of lactic acid and tut in hypertrophy. He by far knows the most in that regard :P

I'm going to be doing a massive write up on hypertrophy, so until Liron decides he wants to attack the topic, hopefully it will help some people.

"Myostatin — From the Mighty Mouse to cardiovascular disease and cachexia"

pdf to the full paper. I couldn't settle for the abstract. A nice figure from it as well;

I'm working on it now, but it won't be done for a few weeks.

Cool
what will your write up entail? Just studies examining different loads, rep ranges, etc and the hypertrophic gain yielded? Just general different mechanisms of how it can occur through several pathways? Etc. Either way, this may be of help

http://www.lookgreatnaked.com/articles/mechanisms_of_muscle_hypertrophy.pdf

just covers several methods that may contribute to hypertrophy

Thanks! i'll check that out.

Yes, basically everything you mentioned. I will cover different opinions, and what i think the science tells us.

Been doing a bit of reading
am gonna do a write up on overtraining.. specifically more-so sympathetic vs parasympathetic overtraining. Been extremely busy so I've held off on a few, but this one won't need too much time
