Nutrition In Sport
http://basijcssc.ir/sites/default/files/NUTRITION%20IN%20SPORT.pdfthis is a decently long book (600+ pages) but it covers a lot and is extremely informative. Great read. If nothing else, browse through it and just read certain sections. Just trying to spread knowledge tbh
Then just a few other random studies:
"Obesity as a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease: the role of adipocytokines."
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24553879" Interestingly, extensive research on the central effects of leptin in Alzheimer's disease-transgenic mice has demonstrated
its capacity to enhance synaptic plasticity and strength, as well as to prevent beta-amyloid deposition and tau phosphorylation."
Just pointing this out to show how extensive/pleiotropic of a hormone/adipokine Leptin really is. Plus the fact that the obese will be leptin resistant and thus the above positive modulations would be unable to manifest.
"Early Life Adversity Is Associated With Elevated Levels of Circulating Leptin, Irisin, and Decreased Levels of Adiponectin in Midlife Adults."
