Sup Raynor,

Messed up my back a few days ago in the gym (probably over-doing it on bendovers). Anyways, pretty much my lower, right above my butt slightly to the left is still bothering me. It's been about a week, it doesn't hurt to touch, it's just sore especially when getting up from sitting down, bending over to put on shoes, ect.

Could this be a disk issue? What type of doctor should I see, I feel like my primary care physician won't be able to do much for me. The pains not unbearable, but it's definitely uncomfortable in certain positions. I have no numbness in my legs or anything like that, just stiffness and slight pain when arching my back, bending over. It's been about a week since I hurt it.
Also read you can still lift, just to avoid obvious exercises that put strain on the lower back, thoughts?

Ok I will try it. If I still get pain... my only option will be lat/front raises?

And would that be sufficient enough or no?

You could also do Dickersons (straight arm cable pulldowns)

I highly doubt it disc related - but more likely a muscle pull/sprain. You are going to want to ice the area 3-4x per day, 20 mins each time, and keep the area mildly stretched and avoid exercising the area.

Rayndaddy,

Hit me with it straight. Is black genetics real, or is this guy non natty?. Would the answer be different if this guy had this physique and was white? Its hard to imagine. Btw he's ~ 185 lbs, ~ 21 years old

For reference, he is not a bodybuilder, he is a powerlifter with a very high total, around 1800 lbs (USAPL, no wraps, etc) and natural, tested federation. Let me know what u think m9

He will most likely win USAPL Raw Nationals in 3 weeks for powerlifting

Hey so tried the arnold press, still had some issues, but I noticed that im completely fine with shoulder flexion.. like the first part of the arnold press.

So by keeping arms near me and lifting up is fine.. but as soon as there is any shoulder abduction, big big pain lol so i cant do the traditional OHP since its an abduction exercise.... but shoulder flexion above 90 degrees, no pain at all....

Can I keep doing that or am I going to miss out on key parts?

Also lateral abduction is fine.. its when my sholders go past 90 degrees above my neck is when pain hits.. so lat raises are fine, and should flexion press is fine too... is this good enough?

And why does my right shoulde have so much pain in abduction past 90 degrees?.

You can continue doing it modified to avoid the pain. You might have a torn labrum. Have you ever had a dislocation of that shoulder?

Does it make sense to feel weaker after not working out for 9 days?
Let's say 9 days ago I was doing 10% more in weight then now. I think after working out again for the next 3-4 days straight I will get my strength back , but is this usual?

Also I've been eating less calories than a month ago if this makes any difference in my weight lifting
