there is a difference in having a high hip setup vs your hips popping up into a sldl. not to hate on gsxer( love u) but he clearly starts with a lower hip position and as soon as he begins the pull they shoot up and his legs practically lock out, its hard to tell in the vid.
I know he did, but that, despite what many trainers say, does not waste energy or anything. If you notice when the hips raise, it's almost before he made any effort. Not everyone can dead lift with know hips. Having too long legs for your torso, or slightly shorter than usual arms and you're done.

Get a kinesiology book yourself. It won't take you even 5 minutes to understand that having your hips high actually removes the stress from the legs and puts it into the glutes.
Some of those trainers have some good advice, but the sooner you realise most of them are simple meatheads, the better prepared you'll be to choose your own info.
