they must've wanted less bulk.

there's no other explanation. imho the 1st place guy has better aesthetics than the 2nd place guy, but his mass is really limited. you have by far the best muscle bellies but you also show better conditioning, and you're proportionate so they can't try to hide behind that excuse. best abs, chest, shoulders in the competition by a fair margin.

is there a way you can bump up a level to compete with bigger bodies that are still under 200 @ comp?

im going to compete in classic physique next year i think.

5 ft 9 up to 5 ft 10, max 192 lbs to weigh in at.

yeah for sure.
but that being said physique guys going for their pro cards and guys at the MR. O
are bigger than me by a mile, or at least look proportionately bigger.

so i guess, either way thats fine. Classic physique in 12 months it is.

Those calves stood out to me right away too. It's like he doesn't even train legs. Oh wait.

He's probably mad because his calves are small

Classic physique might be your class. It's hard because you're maintaining aesthetics and mass, and you have to go back to the Frank Zane days to really see when that was appreciated. So the fitness/physique guys tend to be smaller, and the bodybuilders are way, way bigger. The division between the natural and pro comps seems to be pretty big, and you're sort of stuck in the middle of it. You may surprise yourself and go pretty far. The two gym bros who beat you in this comp have a further distance to go if they want to be winning pros. Olympia classic physique guys are pretty big but the physique or fitness guys (whatever Jeremy Buendia is) aren't very big and you may actually be able to cut/morph into that. I think your frame is a bit bigger and that you're right to set yourself onto classic physique, though.

Have you looked into meeting/being mentored by a pro in clasic physique? It might be a great way to get steered into the right class for you.

if you go to muscle insider (google)
you can see the guys in class B classic physique.

i think i would of won that class if i entered it this weekend.
i have nice quad seperation and hamstrings are decent from the side, just my back is my lacking point.

either way im not worried, 12 months off to just focus and train hard. sounds ideal to me.

i have to weigh in at 192 to even compete in classic physique in my category.
right now im like 215 lmao.
i was probably 200ish for show, maybe slightly under.

Yeah now you have XP and you can train to whatever level you want. You can't really know the topography of competition classes until you arrive and try it. You nearly wrong in the "wrong" class, so that's pretty good. It's a sign that tour aesthetics are on point. Were you able to get feedback from the judges? That could be really helpful even if it may not apply to your next class of competition.

e: 192 eh? To me it's like finding your boxing/wrestling class, but it's harder because weight is only one factor. Your build and what you do with it is another. I thought you looked even better in the post-pics when you put on 12-15 pounds, although it's only a side shot without sleeves. Maybe you need to track for Flex Lewis some day  Except he's a runt so his 212 is kind of scary.
