Have lifts that put them in the top 1% of lifters.

"My DL/Squat needed work still"

I mean I know what you mean but insane lifts man.

it's crazy how the sport of strongman has evolved in the last decade.

Guys doing deadlift for reps with 880lbs. That used to be near strongman world record for 1RM.

Log weights are nuts now. Yoke at the arnolds went all the way up to 1500lbs at some point. I barely managed to take a few steps with the 1k. Felt like I was being crushed by a bus. Guys are speedrunning this weight now.

Watching Rob Kearny with 475 lbs on log lift changed it for me.

This is similar across all sports though. You look at something like Football, the average D lineman was what in the 1960's? 260Lbs average? Now its like 320 and training has been so dialed in and training routines have been come so specific so master movements be it pushing off a person or pushing a log.

We have come a long way with training.

Rob makes me wish more strongman took the time to learn a proper split jerk.

Have you heard of Mitchell Hooper? New upcoming strongman, not in the WSM leagues yet. Australian

I competed with him in powerlifting 2 years ago in a natty tested comp, he switched to strongman last year and pulled 475 kg / 1047 lb last month in competition. 25 years old and isnt a bloatlord yet, around 120 kg

Besides partial tearing my pec on weighted dips, I remember when I was way younger I didnt have safety clips on my heavy barbell bench press. I heard one of the 45 lb plates sliding off as I was trying to get past a sticking point and couldnt do anything about it. Once the weights fell off, the other side just went flying towards the bench next to me. THANK GOD nobody was occupying that other bench.
