Attentional control is a skill we develop as children, just like walking and speaking. Some people don't develop certain skills as strongly, you don't need meds you just need practice

ADD/ADHD is a disorder in the frontal lobe of the brain. Just like with any disability, the severity differs in person from person. For some people, building skills and strategies isn't enough. The whole idea behind ADHD medication is that it helps normalize the function of the frontal lobe of the brain, allowing someone with ADD/ADHD to function more normally.
I would love to get a brain scan, and a proper psychiatrist to discuss things... but I'm left with a family doctor (who is helpful), the internet, a family-friend psychologist, and myself... which means I'm uncertain about a lot of things.
