Well. I am taking definitive steps to ensure my brother receives help. I am hopeful that my efforts will result in him being helped. As things stand, he still has a legal right to refuse help, and he will refuse... so I am figuring out if his current mental state qualifies my parents to make decisions for him.

Does he go outside much? If not, start giving him some vitamin D. And probably have him exercise in some form. I assume he is already on prescription medications?

Nah. Not sleep walking. He just told me he has been feeling crazy. He's not acting normal even when he's not in a 'crazy' state.

Getting help for him asap.

Yeh that's easier said than done. :-/ Other than the marijuana, I'm worried about how he's consuming it... specifically:
- if the dealer is adding anything special (doesn't seem that he's consuming anything laced with something obvious, but I remember I had an acquaintance classmate in college that said he used to spray weed with windex to make it look fresher...)
- if the processing my brother does to the weed does anything (he usually buys weed oil, or some weird glass sheet that is produced by essentially processing weed into a condensed oil, so that it is stronger... this process involves using butane and other things, evaporating butane out... the end result technically is supposed to be pure... but if anything is left in, I have no idea if it could be damaging kind of like meth is)

Anyways. Long story short. We've got 911 on speed dial, we're trying to reach out to a schizophrenic family help group that links people in the right direction (even if he doesn't have schizophrenia), and we're seeing what we can do about getting him to a proper psychiatric hospital.

He's showing clear signs of pain and distress right now. We can see him fighting inside. He's normal throughout the day, but not really... he's kind of acting like someone who went through a bad breakup. Quiet, defeated, clearly struggling, talking a lot less, not eating properly, huddling up in his room, constantly sort of reaching out but pulling back before he really says anything.

I'm just venting.

Maybe it's bipolar? Like is he feeling "crazy" sometimes or is it all the time?

Sounds like he's in a pretty negative headspace regardless of schizophrenia or any other things. Honestly, anxiety and depression could also be contributing, but imo they aren't hard to get passed. I'm a firm believer in perspective regarding those. Identifying negative thought patterns etc will go a long ways in helping - if that is an issue with him.

Ehh, I don't think bipolar would explain some of the episodes he seems to be having tbh
