it is, to an extent. think about it, how many fights have you seen/been in? boxing will assure you dodge all punches and land the majority of yours, but we both know that a lot of the time, fights end up on the ground anyway. your skills are no good then.
(obligatory don't go looking for violence statement)
as far as getting into street fights, i think bjj is the most practical by far. getting hit in the face, you can still retain your dignity and pride after you lose. having your ankles touch the back of your neck while squealing like a pig, seems a little harder. i'd put my money on the guy trained in bjj every time. it's easy to take someone down to the ground. harder to make them stand and square up.
also worth noting, as a boxer who went into bjj/mma for a short time, i was VERY easy to take down haha.
if you decide to try out bjj, there's one golden rule i can tell you. clean yo fuckin' mouf. i once ate a tuna sandwich before training and i was made to pay for it. don't be that guy.
fights only go to ground when the people fighting are retards lol
anyone with a half decent skill for boxing would rock someone and the chance of the fight going to ground would be like 1/100. Obv dont fight someone 200lbs bigger than you or that chance will increase a lot lol

Been doing tae kwon do and some boxing for 20 years now. Did a little bjj in college, would like to get back into it, it was a complete change from the normal routine.
I've been curious about krav maga.
taekwondo is usually crap
