right after a visit to the chiropractor
before can be a pretty good idea if you're usually tight in a few spots
i get my massage before i see the chiro because otherwise they usually tell me i should have it done before to make it easier for them to work with me
on the general question, i get massaged before and after workouts/basketball games (not often same day ofc) and my only notes are that i've heard sports performance goes down if you get the massage first, yet my experience has been that sports performance improves. it's just that recovery is worse if you get the massage before rather than after. that's my experience so i'd say that if i could choose one or the other i'd choose before but the pendulum is shifting for me at age 38. pretty soon i can almost guarantee that massages after workouts will be better.
