Unnecessary strain? Muscle tissue is fundamentally stronger eccentrically than it is concentrically. If you pull it up it should be a breeze to lower it.

Lel, I'm just messing with you bro. Ppl drop it cuz bawse

i dont like dropping the bar because then i have to get in position again every rep... such a waste of time
I like constant tension instead and lowering the bar
only drop it if I think I will hurt myself lowering it

dropping the bar is fine if it is very heavy( 1-3 reps), but i can always do 10+ reps with the weight so im not worried about injuring myself

If ur going for 1rm I'd say drop the weight or if it slips, obviously drop it. Lighter weight and warm ups I don't drop it. Resetting between reps is retarded. My backs aight

Dropped his wife. Or I guess I should say she dropped him after he beat her ass enough times.

R u dumb?

Deadlift is an explosive movement

You explode up, and you think lowering it softly should be a breeze?

Holy dumb so dumb

Ryan dyer officially condemns you to the dumb group

A lot of guys doing record breaking/PR deadlifts set the bar back on the floor very gently. Showing off? Maybe idk. I think CK meant that muscles under contraction have less chance of injury (stronger) so setting it down should be easy. Exploding up and building that tension is the hard part. But I agree heavy weight is hard to set down, especially if you've done a lot of volume. Lower back pumps nearly k/o me

There is no doubt eccentric lifting is stronger than concentric

Aka a 3 second bicep curl up, and a 3 second bicep curl down? The down is so much easier than the up.

But If you do an explosive 1RM deadlift up you should never ever be lowering it slowly

If you can do an explosive 1rm deadlift it's not your 1rm. Force velocity curves dictate that there is a sharp decrease in contraction velocity at truly maximal forces.
