Anti-vaxxers also have done "their own research" :p

It's not a very good idea to encourage lay people to simply do their own research cause a lot of times non-experts lack scientific literacy. Reading up single studies on pubmed does not count as research if that's what you mean.

The nitrogen that gets excreted is still replaced strictly through dietary protein. The importance of nitrogen fixation in the ecosystem, yo.

No when I say your own research I mean peer reviewed papers and comparing various studies.

Still pubmed, unless you can account for all the other studies that are not accessible without payment. I'm just saying often times this advice gets interpreted as "read up some articles on pubmed" and then you end up having people reading abstracts without possibly having ever done proper research themselves.

If i'd want to argue for the healthiness of saturated fats, i could easily end up finding the studies that confirm my bias and even be convinced by them, all the while pouring the work of thousands of scientists and several decades of consensus down the drain. Gotta really know what you're doing.

it sounds like OP missed a small detail of what his doctor was explaining to him and filled in the blanks. i think i might know what your doc was talking about

but this shit's fun to watch the arrogant hnf argue against doctor's advice.

So you're telling me you truly believe your body has the ability to turn a carbohydrate, sugar , into protein/amino acids?

You can totally take carbon backbones from glucose and form amino acids but only the nonessential ones. All essential amino acids need to be obtained through diet because you can't synthesize them fast enough or at all
