....why?

Why not HEAVY weights for maximum gains with CARIO during his off days?

He wants to loose fat and when u do heavy weights....u workout less and u need more heal time.

So he can eat a little under what he burns in 24hr per day @ rest.

Or more depending on cardio days or what he does.

I mean i guess he can do what ur saying but wouldnt heavy weights + cardio on offdays or even for warmups to weigfhs be the BEST way to GAIN muscle while losing fat?

lol

edit: i'm assuming he's not super bulky and muscular already.

We need more information. Cause i think everyone should try to do things perfectly to get maximum results.

It makes me sad seeing ppl slowly doing things. If u want it...just do it correctly and make it perfect for maximum gains

either would work, really.

heavy weight low rep high rest time will get you raw strength. everyone knows this, powerlifters

but bodybuilders, who's ultimate goal is to build mass/aesthetic, go for less weight and a little more volume. not that heavy weight low reps won't build mass, but compare a photo of a powerlifter vs bodybuilder

when i say heavy/less weight i mean relative to your max weight you're able to lift

Yup, really as long as he is within 8-12 and getting a challenge thats good enough for now, throw in cardio and he should be fine for 3 months if he is watching his calories.

i mean if someone has a better idea and think i'm wrong...i welcome it.

Cause i would love to learn what is the BEST way for him at this point. With his stats and everything.

His goals are maximum muscle + maximum fat loss

Realistically nobody knows what the best way for him to achieve his goals is. It varies from person to person and he doesn't have a defined goal other then gain muscle/lose fat which is quite general.

I'd just recommend OP looking at picking a 90 day routine *cough p90x cough* and sticking to it. (Disclaimer: P90x works for some and not for others, if you're interested just torrent it and read up)

He should find a schedule/make his schedule so he can workout X amount of times a week consistently. Be true to your diet, and allow yourself some leniency. Don't force yourself to ONLY eat chicken, rice, and veggies if you don't particularly like it. Have a cheat meal every 2-4 weeks or whatever works. Just don't go overboard.
