I got the sbs in size small as recommended on website and returned them for a large cuz they were so uncomfortable and tight . As plaad said ordering size smaller would be for people competing . If anything get a size larger.

I wanted the smaller sbds to eventually compete, but I just want a cheap pair of training ones for now, I tried wearing tights, didn't have any knee pain I think i'll just wear tights to the gym everyday now =o

Aren't you the same weight now as you were like a year or 2 ago when you started posting? ~160lbs?

Even if you outgrow them in a year, is $100 really that big of a deal?

As for wrist wraps, I def recommend them. I have bitch wrists and they have helped a ton on bench.

I'm 10 lbs heavier, but much much bigger size-wise I don't have much money right now, saving up to go travel to aus in 4 months trying to save everything.

Who suggests 2sizes smaller btw?
That is mainly for people competing imo.
Most people I know that competes on elite level got one pair for training in their normal size and then a couple for competition that is smaller.

Stabilize wrists.
Prevents deviation to some extent (the longer/harder wraps the stiffer the wrist gets) which can be a huge deal if you got weak/injured wrist.

the 2 sizes smaller is for competition

are these really needed when lifting lighter weights such as you do?

Not trying to talk shit, but I'd rather strengthen my body than try to use wraps and shit @ low weights

Absolutely. What's better than long term joint health and less chance at injuries in general?

I always thought you could just do lower weights/higher reps and build up your joints?

I dont feel any joint pain but I am still fat (265) and only am @ 275/315 bench/squat

progressive overload

done to grow muscles aka induce hypertrophy

this is making the amount of stress on the muscles increase over time

increasing stress over time, dont matter if 20 lbs of stress or 40 lbs, as long as its stress, can cause joint issues

things adapt to higher weight, but if something is heavy for some1 then it puts more stress than some1 who can easily lift the same weight

also i think i heard somewhere that higher reps and lower weight is worse for joints than higher weight lower reps

any1 care to correct what i said? in case im wrong...

I remember reading somewhere heavier weights = more calcium being grinded off or something in the joints which is good. not sure if its better for you than higher reps lower weight though just something about longevity and it being good for u as a senior
