be easy with the sarcasm. people believe everything here.

and what's the problem with that number for a novice?

Aube's suggested numbers total 1410lbs I believe. Obviously, most people aren't training to compete in powerlifting so take that into consideration on whether they're "good" numbers or not.

If a guy is looking to compete clearly those are shit numbers, but if he's just looking to get stronger overall and be healthier like most of us. That's really not that bad a number.

Perspective folks, perspective.

they watch way too many videos of power-lifters and assume high numbers are what everyone lifts or should be lifting. I'd prefer that my thighs don't chaff each other personally.

At 230 ish pound 1250 shouldn't be hard to hit within 1-3 years.

That's what I was thinking, I didn't even train for strength and I almost hit 1100 after one year. Went from 160 to 165 to 186 pounds at 6'1.

I imagine it would be close to 1200 if I had any clue as to what I was doing at all. But that's learning for ya...

Progress is slowing down now, but I have a 2.5 year goal of 1300, 2.5 being total years working out.

I don't really train just strength though as I could care less about competing. Just want to look good and be strong at 185-200

I just want 450/350/600. We will see how progress goes during cpa models.

Very achievable 'short term' goal to aim for for most people

Bench 2 plates
Squat 3 plates
Dead 4 plates

Long term goal goal to aim for and considered 'strong' by commercial gym standards

Bench 3 plates
Squat 4 plates
Dead 5 plates

Edit: unless ofc u train under lightman as several years of training will not even get you close

I guess I should clarify that I am not training to be a power lifter or anything of the sorts, I've mostly been trying to train for appearance and losing weight so I havent exactly been pushing myself to increase my 1 rep maxes.

Realistically I had some sort of a base when I started training hard again a couple months ago but it was a base that had been neglected (esp legs after having a back surgery and I had never done a deadlift prior to 2 months ago)

I would say my progress has been bodyweight down from 250 to roughly 230

bench from 225 x 3 to 225 x 8 or 9

squat from 225x 5 to 285 x 5 (maybe more havent really pushed myself because I really worry about my back)

deadlift from 225 x 5 to 335 x 5 (most I've tried, also done on my last set)

These are just some generic estimates, usually we train with 3 sets x 10 reps on bench plus all kinds of accessory, we do a 5 sets of 10 for squat, and a 5 sets of 5 for dead lifts. Of course all of these have accessories with them as well as some HIIT and core included.
