You'll get used to it. Reason why I've become so interested in olympic lifting is because of how it benefits me in cheerleading (joined college team last year) I remember I would whine like a bitch about my wrists hurting during partner stunts (one guy lifting a girl alone) but now I can keep them up there for ages without feeling it in my wrists.
Same applies with a bar. Last time I tried C&J (couple years back) I gave up cause of wrist pain (and lack of technique, but that's a different story) vs now, after 6 months of cheerleading = don't feel a thing.
You're totally right, with time and practice it'll improve. I have to be careful not to overdo it though.
I have a TFC tear (caused, in part, by a scaphoid/ulna/radius fracture a couple years prior) in my right wrist that is inoperable because of where the damage was. I think they normally scope it and clean it up but because of where I damaged my TFC a scope won't generally help. Or something to that effect.
I'll eventually have to get my ulna shortened to take pressure of the joint but in the meantime I put up with it.
I just have to be careful not to make my wrist angry or I have a bad time.
