There is 6 people that has ever achieved 3x bw Clean & Jerk.

3 of them bulgarians: Topurov, Genchev and some other guy.
2 turks: Suleymanoglu & Mutlu. Suleymanoglu got the best sinclair ever (Urik was around that level aswell)
1 north korea: Om Chol.

Genchev was like 67kg and did 202 or something which is the highest of them. Naim did 190 @ 60.

Fucking amazing.

I want to get into real OL but I'll be damned if it doesn't hurt my wrists quite a bit once the clean is complete and on my shoulders.

Apparently I suck at making a shelf with my Anterior delts too. I used to be able to fine, but I'm not as good as it as I used to be.

I need a lot of work before I ever try for weight on a clean and jerk... months of work on form to get it right sounds realistic

I don't have much interest in doing the snatch tbh.

A big part of that is probably your tricep, wrist and lat flexibility.. Not your positioning in the front rack stance. Most people have pretty terrible flexibility and cant get their wrists back enough to catch the clean and have terrible hip / ankle / thorasic mobility and couldn't do an overhead squat with a broom stick let alone snatching like 185 and catching it in the bottom of the overhead position.

I made the transition to olympic lifting 18 months or so ago... Just adding it into my programming with other stuff that I do and it's been the best thing ever... So much fun to do something that involves technique.

At OP your total is pretty good, once you get the mobility down you should be able to quickly progress to a 275ish cnj and 225 snatch.. I would assume. Problem for you will be working on the balance of catching weights in the bottom positions more than the actual strength it takes to lift the weight, if that makes sense?

I have no doubt that mobility is playing a pretty big factor in it lol

Wrists hate it but I know that isn't the only issue. Lats probably aren't flexible enough either. Tris feel ok? I think... idk

Having OL shoes would help with being in the proper position at the bottom because my current shoes are very flat bottomed, which isn't helping for that

Wish I could afford OL shoes... I'm so fkn broke rn

You'll get used to it. Reason why I've become so interested in olympic lifting is because of how it benefits me in cheerleading (joined college team last year) I remember I would whine like a bitch about my wrists hurting during partner stunts (one guy lifting a girl alone) but now I can keep them up there for ages without feeling it in my wrists.

Same applies with a bar. Last time I tried C&J (couple years back) I gave up cause of wrist pain (and lack of technique, but that's a different story) vs now, after 6 months of cheerleading = don't feel a thing.

You're totally right, with time and practice it'll improve. I have to be careful not to overdo it though.

I have a TFC tear (caused, in part, by a scaphoid/ulna/radius fracture a couple years prior) in my right wrist that is inoperable because of where the damage was. I think they normally scope it and clean it up but because of where I damaged my TFC a scope won't generally help. Or something to that effect.

I'll eventually have to get my ulna shortened to take pressure of the joint but in the meantime I put up with it.

I just have to be careful not to make my wrist angry or I have a bad time.

On another note, I'm completely fascinated by olympic lifters (never really been a fan of oly lifts before now)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ7PUORWG_Y

77kg guy and he can C&J 210kg.. nearly 3 x BW, and looks ripped as fuck. What a machine :hail:

that's pretty damn impressive.

how do olympic lifters compete? must be by a ratio between height/weight and weight lifted, right?
