My optimal time is about 9 hours IN BED.

It takes me at least 30-40 minutes to fall asleep because I like thinking about random stuff when I go to bed.

I also spend the last half hour or so in bed just turning around and repositioning and bracing myself for another shitty ass day.

6-7 is plenty

Your body will adapt

7 is in the ideal range (7-8) so yeah. I wish the 6 and adaptation were true though
Usually during semester I'll go a month straight, or nearly, with only 6 hours per night. By the end I'm so run down and fatigue I completely stop the gym and end up in a lethargic stooper. I really need at least 7-8, chronically, or I deteriorate with celerity

Depends on so many things. If you are excited for something, less. If you're willing to eat a proper breakfast, also less.

If you're depressed, or don't have anything particularly interesting happening in life currently, more. If you eat like shit, more.

General rule is: 8+ hours is borderline sickness.. if you literally cannot leave your bed without 9 hours or so, you're probably suffering from depression or some kind of sickness.

Experiment with 7 hours on a good diet / life routine. Most people can easily function like this

seems like everyone is pretty high maintenance itt lol, from bct through ait (6 months total) i averaged 4-6 (only required to give 4 hours) hours 6 days a week, and 8-9 on sundays.. felt a little run down, but still was able to pt every morning and hit the gym that night..

so yes i believe you do get used to it

7-8 hours every night

surprised nobody has brought up the fact that good sleep is essential for muscle repair and gaining mass

to avoid feeling tired during the day?

any foods to eat/avoid to not be tired?

I need to average at least 7.5 hours throughout the week. If I sleep for 6 hours one night, I need 8-8.5 the next... or if I get 6 the next, then I need even more the next day.

I used to be able to run on 3 hours a night 5 days a week, and 10 hours a night 2 days a week... don't know how I did it back then... for over a year. But I didn't train, and I even fell off a scaffold once because I was so tired.

I need to avoid simple carbs to avoid not being tired.

Melatonin and going on camping trips are two things that have been amazing with resetting my sleep.

Sleeping in a room with no windows really messes up the sleep schedule though.

your physiology is unique to you...how many do you need to function well? if i sleep more than 6.5, i'm groggy. if i sleep under 5, i'm groggy. some people would not respond well to my sleep schedule

If I sleep for 8 hours (set my alarm for 8 hours and a half from when I lie down) I feel as if i've overslept, it's harder to start my day etc, but if i do 6.5 hours I feel alert wake up easily, but then I get tired early into the night. sooo idk. 7 hours is just fucked
